WHY social media instead of traditional media?

New ways of marketing: “social media vs traditional media’’
In today life it’s not about choosing between traditional media or social media. it’s all about understanding and knowing your target audience. While advertising has become increasingly more digital traditional media is still effective but like I said before it all about knowing your target audience.

What is traditional media?


Traditional advertising refers to: 
  • Print media: newspapers .magazine, broach, poster. back in the days people used yellow pages and the print media when they wanted to know what on the market and what fresh 
  • Broadcasting: radio and television. most individual watch television or listen to radio while their driving this give business a chance to broadcast their advertisement at that particular time which is sometimes referred as pick hours    
  • Street promotion: refers to a group pf people promoting and event or product.
This method has been used for years and years now. People are used to it and they seek something new something full of vibrant. Traditional media charges a lot and need budget first in order to be published. 

Social media marketing

Social media refers to 
The new better way to up market your brand rather be it a product or service. Social media enable you build and maintain relationship with your audience. This enable you to find out from your audience what they should expect from you, what they need to see in store and so on. The benefit of social media are a lot compared to traditional media. with social media you are able to receive  feedback instance unlike sending and advert on TV or radio station hoping that people will see it and will be influenced by it first of all placing an advert in rational media cost a lot for what? Few second??!! While with social media advertising they don’t need any budget setup it’s cheap. Anyone and brand can now place his/her product and get feedback at the same time. My question is why spend more on something that will appear for few seconds not knowing whether people saw it on not? While you can do much better job using social media and not bankrupting your organization?  This video shows why one need to go with social media instead of traditional media

IS THERE ANY FUTURE IN JOURNALISM WITH SOCIAL MEDIA AROUND?


  Journalism vs Social Media

There were times where we used to depend on journalist for news updates, where one will wait for the morning paper or wait for the late night news on television seeking information about the world we live in.  It is funny how all this have changed by just introducing social media. I guess what I am trying to say is news consumption today is not the same as it was before when people use to tune 24 hour news channel to seek information about the world around. 

My own voice 



Social media give us the privilege to stand up and voice out our own opinion, tell the world what we've seen and what’s on our mind.  Gone are those days where one had to go into the offices asking journalist in publishing their stories. An increasing number of audience are going online for news. Traditional media still do exist but the competition is getting tough from interactive online media. People need to be part of that event discussion they need to interact with one other about that current situation taking place while it’s still happening. Well is this possible without social media?

They just need to master the new skills. I don't see any reason for journalism to disappear into thin air and not carrying doing that they do best which delivering factual news to the public. The skills are as follows

  • multimedia
  • adobe flash
  • video editing   
  • info graphic
The existence of social media doesn't mean it is the end of journalism. This create a new platform for journalist to create and maintain relationships with their readers, by enabling interaction communication with both parties. Journalist need to adapt the new style, speed and attitude. Journalist need to be entrepreneurs and think more about business , creating ways of how they can represent companies at the same time entertain their audience. Technology haven't changed the need of compelling the story. Some of the post written by armatures are not credible and organised they just don't have the journalist skills or taste that is found in journalism writing. The story should be well written with verified facts accompanied by credible source. 

Another thing that might come in handy into making the business of journalism grow in the world of social media is for them to change the setting of their newsroom and design a room, where it will be easier for them to work around social networks and internet. They could just use a blog reason being it gives them enough room to post their long report 
I don't thing journalism will ever die soon it’s still has the long way to walk instead its developing more
